contextoptimize

@cosmeticaura⭐ 1 stars

Frees up the context window and keeps it lean. Use whenever the user types /contextoptimize, says the session is slow, long, forgetful or "running out of context", asks what is eating their context or tokens, wants to compact or clear without losing their place, or asks to trim CLAUDE.md, skills, plugins or MCP servers. Also use before starting a long task in a session that is already heavy.

Choose how to use this skill

You do not need every option. Choose the path your AI client supports. The stable page stays the same; versioned files are immutable.

1. Native installer

This listing has no registered native installer command. Use the complete package or source fallback below, depending on what your client supports.

Do not guess an installer command or replace an existing version without reviewing the diff.

2. Complete package recommended

Download the ZIP when available. It includes SKILL.md plus the references, security notes and version metadata.

No complete ProSkills package is published for this listing yet.

3. Prompt-only

Copy the prompt above when the agent can read the stable page or when you want to adopt the workflow without installing a skill.

Need only the instruction file?

Download SKILL.md only if your client requires a single file. The complete ZIP is safer for a full installation because it preserves the references and release context.

No path installs or executes anything by itself. Your agent still needs access to the project files. Before updating, compare the installed version and review the diff.

contextoptimize

A Claude Code skill that frees up your context window when you type /contextoptimize.

It does four things, in order:

  1. Writes a handoff note so nothing is lost when you compact or clear.
  2. Measures what loads into every session before you type: CLAUDE.md files, skill and subagent descriptions, plugins, hooks and MCP servers.
  3. Shows the five biggest costs with a specific fix and the tokens each fix saves.
  4. Applies only the fixes you approve. Nothing is deleted; files move to a dated archive with a manifest.

Install

git clone https://github.com/CosmeticAura/contextoptimize ~/.claude/skills/contextoptimize

Start a new Claude Code session, then type /contextoptimize.

Just the numbers

The measuring script works on its own. It is read-only and uses only the Python standard library.

python3 ~/.claude/skills/contextoptimize/scripts/context_audit.py /path/to/project
python3 ~/.claude/skills/contextoptimize/scripts/context_audit.py . --json

Example output:

| Loaded in every session | Est. tokens |
|------------------------------------|-------------|
| Memory files (CLAUDE.md chain) | 2,410 |
| Personal and project skills (31) | 1,870 |
| Subagents (10) | 640 |
| Enabled plugins (14) | 3,120 |
| Total measured | 8,040 |

Token counts are estimates (characters divided by 4). The script cannot see MCP tool schemas or hook output; use /context inside Claude Code for those.

What it will not do

  • Delete anything.
  • Change settings without asking.
  • Uninstall plugins. It turns them off in enabledPlugins, which you can turn back on.
